Often I would avoid large social events, as I would be afraid of how people would react to my less than perfect complexion. Tip number one, don’t pick or squeeze any of your spots, ever! I was often told by mates, who claimed to know how to get rid of acne fast, that you must pick at your zits before they grow and get bigger. Utter garbage! Did you know that by squeezing your spots, you could leave behind severe scarring, which is much tougher to get rid of.

If you pick your pimples, this only causes more redness and inflammation. So not only will it be painful picking and squeezing, but it will also make it bigger and even worse to look at! Squeezing your pimples may also result in acne in other areas of your face, as it spreads bacteria once you pop the zit.

The second point of knowing how to get rid of acne fast, is to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. This gets so over-looked by many acne sufferers, but this alone can bring with it so many benefits. Try and aim for 7-8 glasses of water per day.

So why does drinking plenty of water help? Water will assist your body in getting rid of harmful toxins that can cause acne outbreaks. Also, water helps to keep skin nice and hydrated, which is very important. Certain specific acne products can cause skin dryness, which is often very irritating. Drinking water will combat this.

Now a very important step in knowing how to get rid of acne fast. You absolutely must cleanse your face twice daily. No more than two times a day, though, otherwise you will be over-cleansing, which could lead to excessive dry skin on your face. Use a mild, anti-bacterial soap, or even better a face wash, to unclog the skin pores that are full of bacteria that, if left uncleared, could turn into pimples.

Do not use soap that you wash your hands with though. This is because normal soap bars contain high strength ingredients, that aren’t meant to be used on sensitive facial skin. So when you have finished washing your face properly, avoid scrubbing your face dry, and pat it dry instead. Scrubbing can inadvertently pop pimples on your skin, and can cause the acne to spread to different areas of your face.
